South Point - West HuntingtonTransmission Line Rebuild Project

Appalachian Power representatives plan to upgrade the transmission system in Huntington and Kenova, West Virginia, and South Point, Ohio. The South Point-West Huntington Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves upgrading approximately 6.5 miles of electric transmission line in or near the existing right-of-way.

The South Point-West Huntington transmission line is almost 100 years old and experiences power outages due to aging equipment. Replacing the line with modern equipment improves electric reliability and strengthens the transmission system in the area.

Construction begins early 2024 and concludes early 2025.
