Approved Projects

Ellerbe Road - Lucas Transmission Line Rebuild Project

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) is upgrading electric transmission facilities near Line Avenue and Ellerbe Road in Shreveport. The company will replace aging wooden poles and wire with stronger steel poles and new wire beginning Fall 2018. Construction is expected to be complete by Spring 2019.

Longwood - Scottsville Transmission Line Rebuild Project

SWEPCO plans to upgrade a 16-mile 138-kilovolt transmission line between Longwood, Lousiana and Scottsville, Texas. Plans involve replacing existing wooden poles with steel single-pole structures and installing new wires along the transmission line route. The company expects to invest approximately $18 million on this upgrade project.

North Shreveport - Longwood Transmission Line Rebuild Project

SWEPCO plans to invest approximately $18 million in upgrading the electric transmission grid in the North Shreveport and Longwood areas in Louisiana. The project is expected to be completed in Summer 2019.

Powering Up: Cedar Grove Area

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) plans to rebuild approximately 2 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line in the Cedar Grove area of Shreveport. These upgrades will benefit the area by providing more reliable electric service for growth and economic development.

Powering Up: Summer Grove Area

AEP Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) is planning to build a new substation, and approximately 1.5 miles of new 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line in the Summer Grove area.
