Danville AreaTransmission Line Rebuild Project

Appalachian Power representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission grid in Pittsylvania County.

The Danville Area Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves upgrading approximately 3 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line.

Project Updates

12/6/2023: Construction now expected to start in summer 2024. Project expected to be in service at the end of 2024.

07/26/23: Appalachian Power representatives are conducting field survey work in preparation for transmission line construction, expected to begin in November 2023. The project is expected to be complete by June 2024.

06/17/22: Appalachian Power representatives would like to inform landowners that the need for this project, at this time, is not immediate and the schedule is on hold until further notice. The project team plans to provide additional information to landowners and residents once an updated timeline is determined.
