AEP Texas and Oncor plan to strengthen the electric transmission system in West Texas by building a double-circuit 345-kilovolt (kV) power line. The 23-mile long line will connect Oncor's Blue Goose Substation, located east of Pecos, to AEP Texas' Creosote Substation, located west of Coyanosa.
Oncor will construct, own, and operate the western half of the power line, and AEP Texas will construct, own, and operate the eastern half of the power line.
The location for AEP Texas' Creosote Substation has not yet been decided. Only one location will be selected.
Fall 2026: AEP Texas and Oncor are hosting a public open house on September 15, 2026, at the Reeves County Civic Center (1500 S. Cedar Street, Pecos) from 5 to 7 p.m.
Attendees can view detailed maps and talk with project team members about the project and preliminary route links. There will be no formal presentation, so guests may arrive at any time.
