Angstrom - NaismithPower Improvements Project

AEP Texas plans to upgrade the power grid in San Patricio County.

The proposed project involves building 16 to 23 miles of a double-circuit 345-kilovolt (kV) transmission line, with one circuit installed initially.

The Angstrom-Naismith Power Improvement Project is the result of new transmission service agreements signed with several large industrial customers and other additional new power load additions in the area.

AEP Texas representatives filed a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) in October 2021.

The PUC determines the final line route based on information included in AEP Texas’ CCN application and landowner input, but the endpoints remain the same.

Project Updates

February, 2021: AEP Texas invites landowners along the preliminary routing links to participate in one of two virtual town halls, scheduled for February 18, 2021. These meetings provide landowners with an opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions of AEP Texas representatives. Landowners will receive advance notice with additional information by mail.
