AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission grid in Allen County.
The Lyka Transmission Project involves:
The project meets the power needs of a customer's new facility, which AEP Ohio is obligated to serve, and addresses the area's growing demand for energy by strengthening the transmission system.
This project requires Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) approval.
Spring 2026: Thank you to everyone who attended the open house on Wednesday, May 6. We value the feedback you provided regarding the proposed transmission line study segments.
As the project team reviews collected comments, landowners may be contacted by Contract Land Staff (CLS), the right-of-way company assisting AEP Ohio, to discuss field survey activities. Field surveys are a tool used by the project team to gather additional data to help determine a proposed line route. Surveys are expected to continue through the fall.
This project involves the use of steel monopole structures.
Typical Pole Height: Approximately 140 - 170 feet*
Typical Right-of-Way Width: Approximately 150 feet*
*Exact structure types, height and right-of-way requirements may vary
AEP Ohio provides electricity to nearly 1.5 million customers.
