Fostoria - East LimaTransmission Line Rebuild Project
The Fostoria-East Lima Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding approximately 41 miles of 138-kV transmission line between West End Fostoria and East Lima Substations.
This power line has experienced several outages since 2015 resulting in nearly 20,000 minutes of customer service interruption. These planned improvements replace damaged and aging towers from the 1920s with modern steel poles, reduce the likelihood of power outages and speed recovery of service when outages occur, and enhance electric service reliability for area customers
Plans call for rebuilding the power line in the existing right-of-way, although company representatives might need to acquire new easements or supplement current easements to ensure the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the line.
This project requires Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) approval.
Project Updates
AEP Ohio representatives plan to construct the transmission line in two phases:
- Phase 1 (Fostoria Substation-New Liberty Substation): Summer 2024 – Summer 2025
- Phase 2 (New Liberty Substation-East Lima Substation): Fall 2026- Fall 2027
If you have any questions about construction and the upcoming activities, please reach out to Andrew Bell with OR Colan at 419-631-4399 or abell@orcolan.com.
