Chickamauga - Addison 138kV Transmission Line Project

AEP Transmission representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission grid in Gallia County. Modernizing equipment and creating looped service improves electric service reliability for area customers. Construction begins early 2028 and concludes fall 2031.

The project involves:

• Rebuilding about 4 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between Haners Station off Bulaville Pike in Gallipolis Township and Addison Station along Georges Creek Road in Addison Township.
• Building Chickamauga Station along McCormick Road in Green Township.
• Building less than a mile of 138-kV line between Haners and Chickamauga stations.
• Upgrading Haners station.
• Rebuilding Addison station adjacent to existing station.

Company representatives plan to evaluate possible study segments to help determine the location of the new power line between Haners and Chickamauga stations. Study segments are multiple alternatives presented to determine line routes. Company representatives do not build all study segments, but rather they select line routes based on public feedback and feasibility.

Fall 2026: Thank you to everyone who attended the in-person open house on Wednesday, September 16, and to those who submitted feedback on the proposed study segments.

As next steps, the project team will review community feedback and conduct field surveys to gather additional data to help in determining a final line route. Landowners along the existing line or study segments can expect to hear from a Contract Land Staff (CLS) right-of-way agent soon to discuss survey activities.
