Bloomburg - South TexarkanaTransmission Line Rebuild Project

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) representatives plan to rebuild approximately 13.5 miles of electric transmission line in Miller County. This project strengthens the local electric system and provides more reliable service in the south Texarkana region. Crews plan to start construction in spring 2026 and conclude in late 2026.

PROJECT UPDATES

Early 2024: As this project has evolved, the timeline has shifted. SWEPCO representatives plan for the following schedule:

  • Spring 2025: Pre-construction vegetation clearing begins. To safely perform construction on this project, crews may need to first trim or remove trees and other woody-stemmed vegetation from SWEPCO's right-of-way.
  • Early 2026: Pre-construction activities begin. This includes installing temporary gates, fencing and access roads. This may also include installing culverts for water management.
  • Spring 2026 - Late 2026: Transmission line construction.
  • Late 2026: Facilities placed in service and restoration activities begin.
