Frontera - Key Switch Transmission Improvements Project

AEP Texas representatives plan to upgrade the electrical transmission system in Hidalgo County to support significant new electric demand and maintain reliable service across the Rio Grande Valley region.

Project Updates

Fall 2026: AEP Texas representatives hosted an in-person open house in Mission, Texas, on Aug. 18. AEP Texas appreciates the participation of landowners, community members, and stakeholders who provided feedback during the project's community engagement process. Input received during the event and subsequent comment period helped inform the project's development and evaluation.

Project development activities will continue as engineering and design efforts advance. AEP Texas representatives will continue to communicate with property owners and stakeholders as additional information becomes available.
