Fultonham Area Transmission Line Rebuilds Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the local power grid in Perry and Muskingum counties.

The project involves:

  • Rebuilding about 25 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line between six area substations.
  • Replacing deteriorating wooden poles with modern steel poles.

The upgrades enhance electric reliability by replacing aging infrastructure from the 1920s and 1950s. Modernizing equipment reduces the need for frequent maintenance and minimizes the likelihood of future service disruptions and outages.

Project Updates

Summer 2026: Crews will conduct environmental surveys within the existing right-of-way throughout the summer into the winter season.
