LykaTransmission Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission grid in Allen County.

The Lyka Transmission Project involves:

• Building Lyka Substation on customer-owned property between North West and North Cole streets in Sugar Creek Township.
• Building about 4 miles of 345-kilovolt transmission line to connect the new substation to an existing transmission line located in Sugar Creek Township.

The project meets the power needs of a customer's new facility, which AEP Ohio is obligated to serve, and addresses the area's growing demand for energy by strengthening the transmission system.

This project requires Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) approval.

AEP Ohio representatives invite community members to learn more about the project and share feedback. Please join us from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center - South Hall, located at 7 Town Square in Lima. There is no formal presentation, so you can arrive at any time during the event. Visitors can view detailed maps and talk with team members about the proposed study segments.
