AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades to strengthen electric reliability for customers in northern Franklin and southern Delaware counties. The Huntley Extension Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding 2.6 miles of 138-kilovolt transmission line between Interstate 270 west of Huntley Road and just north of Lazelle Road.
Crews plan to rebuild the transmission line within or near the existing right-of-way corridor and may need to update or supplement current easements. Easements are defined land rights that provide the utility with access needed to safely build, operate and maintain its power lines.
*This project requires Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) approval.
May 2026: AEP Ohio's project team selected a final power line route after reviewing future land use, environmental impacts and input received from landowners at the virtual and in-person open house. Impacted property owners can expect to hear about next steps from Contract Land Services (CLS), the right-of-way vendor representing AEP Ohio for this project. For immediate questions, you can contact Jake Wymer at 734-502-9533 or jacob.wymer@contractlandstaff.com.
The project involves the use of steel monopoles.
