Hobart - SnyderTransmission Improvements Project

The project involves rebuilding about 15 miles of 69-kV transmission line between the Hobart City Substation in Hobart and the Snyder Substation in Snyder. Plans also call for minor upgrades to substation equipment along the line. PSO crews rebuilt a separate 15-mile section of this line in 2010 after a tornado damaged the system, so this project does not affect that portion.

Project Updates

Fall 2023: As the project has developed, PSO representatives have shifted the construction schedule. PSO representatives expect to start pre-construction activities in spring 2025, with transmission line construction following shortly thereafter in summer 2025. Crews plan to finish construction in summer 2026.

Fall 2022: Coates Field Service, Inc., serves as PSO's right-of-way representative for this project. Coates representatives plan to contact affected landowners to discuss field activities, easement acquisition and construction.

Summer 2022: Crews plan to conduct field work that includes engineering surveys using equipment to collect soil samples at select locations along the power line route. Crews also plan to complete environmental surveys that include collecting topographical data such as the location of streams, wetlands and potential habitats for endangered species. State and federal agencies require us to complete these surveys. Some of the survey work may require crews to place stakes and ribbon within the company’s easement on your property.
