Conesville-West Millersport 765kV Transmission Line Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the transmission grid in Coshocton, Muskingum, Licking, and Fairfield counties to help keep electricity flowing safely and reliably now and into the future.

This project involves upgrading approximately 50 miles of existing 345-kilovolt (kV) transmission line within existing right-of-way to 765-kV capacity, and constructing up to 14 miles of new 765-kV transmission line to connect the line to the proposed West Millersport Substation.

Some property owners may have received communications from Grid Growth Ventures about a separate transmission project in the region. Although both projects are designed to strengthen the regional transmission network and support future electric reliability needs, they are being developed independently by different companies. Project Updates

Last fall, AEP Ohio representatives announced the Conesville-Bixby 345-kV Transmission Project, which included rebuilding 41 miles of existing 345-kV transmission line between the Conesville and Bixby substations.

Since that announcement, PJM Interconnection, the federally regulated organization responsible for coordinating the transmission system across 13 states, including Ohio, completed additional transmission studies. These studies identified a need for higher-capacity transmission infrastructure in the area. As a result, the original project has expanded and will now move forward as the Conesville-West Millersport 765-kV Transmission Line Project.
