Kiber 138-kVTransmission Line Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades in New Albany in Licking County.

The Kiber 138-kV Transmission Line Project involves:

• Building Kiber Substation off Green Chapel Road.
• Building 1.2 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between Kiber Substation and a customer's facility off Green Chapel Road.
• Building two 0.1-mile 138-kV transmission lines from an existing transmission line along Green Chapel Road to Kiber Substation.

Adding the new substation and transmission lines allow the company to better distribute electricity throughout the grid, serve an area customer, and meet the area's growing electrical demand.

Crews expect construction to begin in spring 2026 and conclude in late 2026.

AEP Ohio representatives announce the Kiber 138-kV Extension Transmission Line Project. AEP Ohio officials filed the following project components with the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB):

• Letter of Notification: Kiber 138 kV Station and Kiber 138 kV Extension East and West Transmission Line Project Case No: 25-1160-EL-BLN. This component involves building Kiber Substation and two .1 miles of double circuit 138-kV transmission lines from an existing transmission line to Kiber Substation.
• Letter of Notification: Kiber-Groves Corner 138 kV Transmission Line Project, Case No. 25-1161-EL-BLN. This component involves building 1.2 miles of transmission line between Kiber Substation and a customer's facility.
