AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades in western Ohio. The project involves updating about 25 miles of power line in the existing right-of-way between the Haviland Substation, located off Road 107 and 114, and south of Hicksville, about one mile from West High Street on Antwerp Drive. Upgrades improve reliability by replacing deteriorating infrastructure with more modern equipment.
The project involves:
Summer 2023: Company representatives expect to start transmission line construction between Haviland Substation and Payne Substation in August 2023. Company representatives plan to start transmission line construction between Payne Substation and South Hicksville Substation in September 2024. Crews plan to finish construction activities in early 2026.
Summer 2021: Company representatives announce plans to rebuild the power line in or near its current location while updating, supplementing and obtaining new easements where necessary. Landowners can expect to learn about next steps from a Volkert right-of-way agent.
