Ellerbe Road - Fern StreetTransmission Improvements Project


SWEPCO plans to strengthen the electric grid in Shreveport by replacing or relocating approximately 2.5 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line.

The project involves:

  • Replacing or relocating approximately 2.5 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line
  • Improvements to the Ellerbe Road and Fern Street substations
  • Managing trees and woody-stemmed vegetation that have grown within SWEPCO's right-of-way

Project Updates

Spring 2025: SWEPCO representatives hosted a public open house on Monday, June 9, at the A.B. Palmer Recreation Center. Landowners had the opportunity to learn more about the project, view detailed maps and talk with team members.

Landowners who were unable to attend are still able to submit feedback about the project and proposed routes by completing the comment form below.
