Tuttle AreaPower Improvements Project

Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for customers in Grady County, Oklahoma. Crews expect to start construction in spring 2025 and finish in spring 2026.

The Tuttle Area Power Improvements Project involves building approximately 13.5 miles of power line and a substation to improve reliability and customer quality of service. This includes:

• Building approximately 5 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line
• Building approximately 8.5 miles of 13-kV distribution line, including 3 miles built under the new transmission line
• Building the new Ridge Road distribution substation

Fall 2024: This project continues to evolve and timelines have shifted accordingly.* PSO representatives anticipate the following schedule as of fall 2024:

• Spring 2025:
  • Vegetation trimming/clearing activities begin where necessary on trees and other woody-stemmed vegetation within PSO's right-of-way along the planned transmission line route.
  • Where necessary, crews prepare the transmission line right-of-way for access by installing temporary gates, fencing and access roads. Crews also may install culverts for water management.
• Summer 2025: Station construction activities begin on the new Ridge Road Substation.
• Summer 2025: Transmission line construction begins.
• Early Fall 2025: Vegetation trimming/clearing activities begin where necessary on trees and other woody-stemmed vegetation within PSO's right-of-way along the planned distribution line route.
• Fall 2025: Distribution line construction begins.
• Spring 2026: Construction concludes and facilities are placed in service.

* These timeframes are still subject to adjustment based on project developments.

Early 2024: As this project has evolved, timelines have shifted. PSO right-of-way representatives continue to contact affected landowners regarding easement acquisition, field activities and construction.

PSO representatives plan for the following construction schedule:

• Fall 2024: Station construction activities begin on the new Ridge Road Substation.
• Late 2024: Vegetation trimming/clearing activities begin where necessary on trees and other woody-stemmed vegetation within PSO's right-of-way.
• Early 2025: Transmission line and distribution line construction begins.
• Spring 2026: Construction concludes and facilities are placed in service.

Spring 2023: As the project has developed, PSO representatives have shifted the construction schedule. PSO representatives plan for pre-construction activities to begin in early 2024, followed by substation construction in February 2024. Crews plan to start transmission and distribution line construction activities in spring 2024 and finish the project in fall 2024.

Early 2023: PSO representatives hosted an in-person open house at Tuttle city hall on Jan. 10, 2023, for affected members of the public to learn more about the project from project team members and ask questions of subject matter experts.
