Prattville - Sand Springs138 KV Transmission Line Project

The Prattville - Sand Springs Transmission Line Rebuild Project strengthens the electric transmission system by replacing deteriorating wooden poles from the 1960s with modern steel poles. The project involves rebuilding about 3 miles of 138-kilovolt transmission line between the Prattville Substation in Prattville and the Sand Springs Substation in Sand Springs. This upgrade ensures the power line complies with the company's structural standards, improves the line's operational performance and reduces the need for frequent maintenance.

Project Updates

Spring 2024: This project has evolved over time and as a result, the schedule has shifted. PSO representatives plan to start pre-construction activities this summer. Pre-construction activities may include:

  • Trimming or removing woody-stemmed vegetation from PSO's right-of-way
  • Installing temporary gates, fencing and access roads
  • Installing culverts for water management

Following this work, crews plan to start transmission line construction in the fall and conclude by the end of the year.
