West Union LoopTransmission Line Project
AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for Buckeye Power and Adams County Electric Cooperative customers. The project involves building about 4 miles of power line and upgrading an electrical substation.
Without this project, customers could experience temporary power outages during equipment maintenance.
The project involves:
- Building approximately 2 miles of power line between Copeland and Panhandle substations
- Building approximately 2 miles of power line between Copeland Substation and an existing transmission line
- Upgrading Copeland substation
- Retiring approximately 2 miles of power line
Company representatives plan to build the power line in an approximate 60-foot right-of-way corridor and plan to acquire new property easements to ensure the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the line.
Project Updates
Early 2025: CLS right-of-way agents continue to discuss field activities, easement acquisition and construction with affected landowners.
Company representatives identified a proposed line route in Fall 2021. Landowners along the proposed route can expect to hear from a Contract Land Staff (CLS) right-of-way agent representing AEP Ohio.
