AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for customers in Mead Township and the village of Shadyside. The Shadyside Transmission Line Extension Project involves building approximately 2 miles of 69-kilovolt power line and retiring about 2 miles of power line.
Company representatives plan to build the power line in an approximate 50-100 foot right-of-way corridor and plan to acquire new property easements to ensure the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the line. Easements are defined land rights that property owners grant the utility to allow for the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the power line. Crews expect to begin construction early 2024 and conclude fall 2024.
AEP Ohio representatives invite the community to attend an in-person open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Decembery 14, at Jefferson Avenue Elementary School gymnasium located at 4895 Jefferson Avenue in Shadyside. You can view detailed maps and talk with team members about the proposed study segments. There is no formal presentation, so you can arrive at any time during the event.
At AEP Ohio, safety is our first priority. We will provide masks and hand sanitizer at the open house. We ask that if you are experiencing fever, cough, body aches, or other COVID-19 sympoms, please stay home for the safety of your neighbors and our staff.
Please share your feedback by December 30. We welcome and encourage your feedback on this project.
