Pickaway – MadisonArea Improvements

AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Madison and Pickaway counties. The Pickaway – Madison Area Improvements is a two-phase project that brings an additional power source and upgrades existing transmission equipment to provide a reliable flow of electricity to its customers. The first phase includes building about 7 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line. The second phase includes rebuilding about 26 miles of 69 kV transmission line. The projected costs of the upgrades are approximately $50 million.

The first phase includes building about 7 miles of transmission line to provide another source of power and improve reliability in the area. Once the new line is complete, AEP Ohio will begin the second phase which involves rebuilding the existing 26-mile transmission line. The existing line will be constructed in the company’s current right-of-way.

The project will be located in Pleasant Township in Madison County and Darby, Monroe, Muhlenberg, Scioto and Harrison townships in Pickaway County. The projected costs of the upgrades are approximately $50 million.
