Jackson Township138-kV Transmission Line Rebuild Project
Power grid upgrades are under way to strengthen the electric system in Jackson and Ross counties. AEP Ohio and local electric cooperatives are coordinating efforts on the Ross-Jackson County Area Improvements project. The approximate $75 million investment by AEP Ohio involves building 35 miles of power line, building three substations and upgrading other electrical facilities to increase service reliability and support economic growth.
The Jackson Township 138-kV Transmission Line Project is part of the multi-phase Ross-Jackson County Area Improvements project. This phase involves building approximately 10 miles of power line to 138-kV standards.
Project Updates
Summer 2024: A Certificate Application to construct, operate and maintain the transmission facilities described in this project was submitted in March 2018. A third amendment to the application was submitted in August 2024 for OPSB approval.

Timeline
Structures

Proposed structures will vary depending on location. The project will use several structure types, including steel H-frame and monopoles that will be about 100-feet tall. The structures will be placed in an approximate 100-foot wide right-of-way corridor.
