Trimble Extension Transmission Line Project

    AEP Ohio plans to improve the reliability of the electric grid in Athens County. The Trimble Extension Transmission Line Project includes building about 2 miles of 138-kilovolt transmission line. The project upgrades the electric infrastructure to accommodate future growth in the region by strengthening the electric system.

    The company plans to construct the new transmission line from the Trimble Substation in Glouster to the existing transmission line that crosses Congress Run Road. This project creates redundancy and provides additional capcity to improve reliability for local customers.

    Project Updates

    The Ohio Power Siting Board granted approval to construct this project on January 17, 2018. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2018.

    AEP Ohio will build steel, single pole structures averaging about 110-feet in height. The structures will be placed in an approximately 100-foot right-of-way.
