Jay CountyArea Improvements

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is developing plans to strengthen the transmission system in northeastern Indiana. The proposed improvements in Jay County would increase reliability, lessen power outages, and speed recovery of service when outages occur.

Project Updates

Fall 2023: I&M representatives plan to retire and remove about 3.4 miles of electric transmission line along W 200 N, between N 200 W and N 100 W, and state Road 67. Crews expect to begin removing wires and poles in the coming weeks. However, lower-voltage distribution wires and associated poles may remain in some areas. Company representatives sent communication with additional details to landowners who are directly impacted. The removal work should conclude early next year, depending on weather and other factors.
