Avilla - Kendallville Area Improvements

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is planning on updating the 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line that travels between Avilla and Kendallville. The improvements in Noble County are essential to ensure continued reliable electric service is available for local customers. The existing transmission infrastructure has reached an age where it is in need of replacement to improve reliability for area customers.

Updating approximately 8 miles of transmission line decreases potential outages and speeds recovery of service when outages occur. Alternative study segments are being considered and evaluated for new construction. The interactive map above shows the proposed study segments.

    Project Updates

Fall 2017: Indiana Michigan Power hosted a public informational open house in October in Kendallville. Landowners and community members offered input, asked questions of project team members and learned more about the project and proposed study segments. The project team is evaluating comments received to determine the final proposed line route.
